Blocked By the Premier League: Why Chelsea Will Sign With Stake

New Update Further and further details regarding Chelsea’s search to find an official sponsor are being made public. Based on @MikeKeegan_DM who is a journalist with The Daily Mail, the Premier League did not grant Chelsea permission to sign a sponsorship agreement in conjunction with Paramount+ as they say it is against the regulations of the broadcasters who are official partners.

Discussions about talks Paramount+ are thought to have reached the stage of advanced. Paramount+’s streaming service recently announced a sponsorship for a brief period in conjunction with Inter Milan which saw their logo appearing on the front of the Italian’s kit for one Serie A match and the UEFA Champions League Final, against Manchester City.

However, in the Deed of License, a contract between clubs and Premier League regarding broadcasting/media guidelines the governing body for the league has vetoed the sponsorship, thereby protecting media outlets like Sky Sports and BT Sport that currently have licenses in place to participate in Premier League games.

They also confirmed that the discussed discussions to negotiate an agreement with Stake.com is proceeding but on a more immediate basis.

New Update A shocking development has emerged: Chelsea is in discussions with Stake after an unannounced cryptocurrency deal was canceled regarding a possible PS44m/year contract according to @croninbenjamin and other sources.

The current sponsor of Everton reportedly offers PS40m/year as opposed to Allianz which offered just PS20m per year.

The club was hoping to get a bid of PS50m per year, which is a 25% increase over the PS40m for the current telecommunications firm Three. However, a disappointing year and the inability to qualify as a participant in the Champions League effectively thwarted the team’s plans. Newcastle being one of in the Big 6 clubs has added more pressure to Chelsea’s search for a new sponsorship.

It could be a controversial partnership, considering the self-imposed, recent betting bans by clubs, however, it is not an issue since the law will only take effect following the 2025-26 season.

Initial: German insurance firm Allianz is among the companies who are in talks about a deal with Chelsea Football Club to replace Three as the club’s primary shirt sponsor, as per people who are familiar with the matter. The story is published through Sky News.

ALLIANZ IN Talks to Replace Three As CHELSEA SHIRT SPONSOR

The blue color of Allianz is appropriate for Chelsea.

The current agreement between Chelsea and Three will cost PS40m per year. Todd Boehly, Chelsea’s new majority shareholder, had declared his confidence in securing a better deal than the 3-year PS120m deal signed together with Three at the end of 2020.

However, Chelsea’s disappointing results during the Premier League this season could hinder its commercial plans. The absence of European football at Stamford Bridge next season may affect the cost of a brand-new sponsor agreement. Other clubs, such as Manchester United and Newcastle United are also seeking new sponsors for their shirts as their Premier League reduces commercial deals with gambling firms.

Three was able to break up its partnership with Chelsea in the year following the administration sanctioned the then-owner of the club, Roman Abramovich.
